Panchandbhai Meghjibhai Patel established Patel Engineering in 1951. The initial product line consisted of varieties of hand-pump. In 1958 company started in to manufacture Diesel Engines by producing good quality diesel engines under the "MERCURY" Brand.
The Company started exports of diesel engine through Gujarat State Export Promotion Corporation from 1967. From 1967 to 1985 company has exported diesel engines to various countries and won numerous number of Export Awards from Gujarat Government as well as from Government of India.
During the period Company's Exports increased incrementally and the company has started direct exports to various countries.
Later on the company started manufacturing and machining for all Grades of C.I. Casting for the automobile industries.
